Before the iconic brands, before the credits, before the booth, there was a quiet kid with a stutter. The world heard hesitation. He heard possibility, and he kept practicing until possibility became power.

 

In early adolescence, J. Marcell Baker sang in choir, taught himself piano by ear, and fell in love with reading and poetry. That passion evolved into starting a band, writing music, rapping, and performing in plays, sharpening an instinct for timing, emotion, and storytelling.

 

As a teenager, he booked his first voiceover job writing scripts, creating characters, and performing on a radio show. Today his voice is trusted by leading brands and networks including Amazon, ESPN, FOX, Marvel, Warner Bros. Discovery, Netflix, B1G Ten Network, AT&T, Apple / Beats by Dre., Dr. Pepper, Guinness and the NAACP among others.

 

He is also the owner of JMB Takehouse, LLC, a creative home base where fresh takes are made daily. Behind the performance is a builder’s mindset. He graduated from Saint Petersburg College in Saint Petersburg, Florida with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Technology Management and Development, along with an Associate of Science in Business Administration and Management and an Associate of Science in Computer Programming with a concentration in Web Design and Analysis. Across more than 20 years in professional roles, including Trainer, Team Lead, Business Systems Analyst, and Software Engineer, he developed the clarity, discipline, and communication instincts that make sessions run smooth and deliverables hit the mark.

 

That dedication to communication shows up off-mic as well. Through Toastmasters, he served for several years as Vice President of Membership and Club President, mentoring beginners in public speaking and competing in speech competitions. The result is a performer who understands audience, intention, and presence at a high level.
